{"id":1723,"date":"2021-07-13T16:49:15","date_gmt":"2021-07-13T20:49:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usclub.gotsportsites.com\/?page_id=1723"},"modified":"2024-06-21T21:33:03","modified_gmt":"2024-06-22T02:33:03","slug":"background-screening","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/usclubsoccer.org\/safeguarding-compliance\/backgroundscreening\/","title":{"rendered":"Background Screening"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-page\" data-elementor-id=\"1723\" class=\"elementor elementor-1723\" data-elementor-post-type=\"page\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-aed2609 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"aed2609\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-3374aa0\" data-id=\"3374aa0\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e34b48f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e34b48f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div><div><h3>US CLUB SOCCER POLICY 13.08<\/h3><div><p>Pursuant to US Club Soccer Policy 13.08, background screening (and disqualification-suspension review) is required of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">all Adult Participants<\/span>, as follows:<\/p><ul><li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Direct Adult Participants (DAPs) who are staff (not players)<\/span>\u00a0must complete background screening and the Disqualification-Suspension Review requirement via the US Club Soccer <a href=\"https:\/\/usclubsoccer.org\/staffregistration\/\">staff registration process<\/a>.<br \/><br \/><br \/><\/li><li>For <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">DAPs who are players, and for Third-Party Adult Participants,<\/span> the applicable Member Organization (which purchased the registration\/membership or contracted with the TPAP) is responsible for ensuring the Adult Participant is not on any of the specified registries or disqualification\/suspension lists:<ul><li>the applicable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fbi.gov\/scams-and-safety\/sex-offender-registry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sex offender registry(ies)<\/a> in the relevant state (ex: state where the applicable Member Organization is located)<\/li><li>the <a href=\"https:\/\/cdd.uscenterforsafesport.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. Center for SafeSport Centralized Disciplinary Database<\/a><\/li><li>U.S. Soccer&#8217;s Risk Management Disqualifications list (which includes US Club Soccer&#8217;s)**<\/li><li>US Club Soccer&#8217;s Suspensions list**<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><p><em>**<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Member Org leadership only<\/span>: To receive an auto-reply with instructions to access these lists, please email <a href=\"mailto:DQandSuspensionLists@usclubsoccer.org\">DQandSuspensionLists@usclubsoccer.org<\/a>.<\/em><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><div><div><h3>APPLICABLE DEFINITIONS<\/h3><div><ul style=\"font-family: lato, sans-serif;\"><li><span style=\"font-weight: bolder;\">Adult Participant:<\/span>\u00a0Any adult (18 years of age or older) US Club Soccer or a Member Organization authorizes, approves or appoints to have Regular Contact or authority over Minor Athletes in activities within US Club Soccer\u2019s jurisdiction. There are two types of Adult Participants:<br \/><ul style=\"font-family: lato, sans-serif;\"><li><strong>Direct Adult Participant (DAP)<\/strong>: Directly affiliated with US Club Soccer or a Member Organization. The large majority of Adult Participants are in this category.<\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: bolder;\">Third-party Adult Participant (TPAP):\u00a0<\/span>Not directly affiliated with US Club Soccer or a Member Organization, such as athletic trainers from a hospital\/healthcare system that a Member Organization uses for a game(s).\u00a0<em>(Please reference Section 13 of US Club Soccer\u2019s Policy Manual for information about requirements for TPAPs.)<br \/><\/em><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: bolder;\">Authority:<\/span>\u00a0When one person\u2019s position over another person is such that, based on the totality of the circumstances, they have the power or right to direct, control, give orders to, or make decisions for that person. See also the\u00a0<em>Power Imbalance<\/em>\u00a0definition in the SafeSport Code.<\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: bolder;\">Minor Athlete:<\/span>\u00a0Any individual under 18 years old who participants in activities within US Club Soccer\u2019s jurisdiction. This includes, but is not limited to, players, coaches and referees who are minors.<\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: bolder;\">Regular Contact:\u00a0<\/span>Ongoing interactions during a 12-month period, wherein an Adult Participant is in a role of direct and active engagement with any Minor Athlete(s).<\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div><\/div><div><div><h3>TIMEFRAME<\/h3><div><p>Background screening is required by the earlier of: 1) prior to Regular Contact with a\u00a0 Minor Athlete, or within the first 45 days of either initial membership or upon beginning a new role subjected the adult to this Policy 13.09.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><div><h3>CRIMINAL BACKGROUND SCREENING VIA JDP<\/h3><div><p>US Club Soccer&#8217;s criminal background screening, part of the staff registration process, is conducted by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jdp.com\/\">JDP<\/a> via the GotSport platform.
