Pursuant to the U.S. Soccer player safety campaign, any tournament projected to have 64 or more teams at 11-U and older age groups must have an adequate number of certified athletic trainers or other healthcare providers in attendance. For more information on this requirement, please visit\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usclubsoccer.org\/sanction-your-tournament\" target=\"_self\">the \u201cSanction Your Tournament\u201d web page<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and refer to the \u201ccertified athletic trainers at sanctioned tournaments\u201d section.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><div><div><h3>\u00a0<\/h3><h3>PLAYER DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES:<\/h3><div><p>In August 2015, U.S. Soccer announced two player development initiatives relating to new standards to small-sided games and birth-year registration. This page provides information on US Club Soccer\u2019s implementation of those initiatives.<\/p><ul><li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ussoccer.com\/coaching-education\/resources\/us-soccer-player-development-initiatives\">U.S. Soccer Player Development Initiatives Presentation (updated September 2017)<\/a>.<\/strong><\/span> This presentation \u2013 available in<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ussoccer.com\/~\/media\/files\/coaches\/2017\/20170906-eng-september-2017-pdi.pdf?la=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">English<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ussoccer.com\/~\/media\/files\/coaches\/player-dev-initiatives\/pdi-aug2017-esp.pdf?la=en\">Espa\u00f1ol<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>\u2013 is designed as a resource to parents, coaches and referees.<\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div><\/div><div><div><h3>\u00a0<\/h3><h3>BIRTH-YEAR REGISTRATION:<\/h3><div><p>While the U.S. Soccer Federation\u2019s birth-year registration mandate is required to be implemented by all U.S. Soccer members by August 1, 2017,\u00a0<strong>US Club Soccer implemented this mandate as of August 1, 2016 for all of its programming<\/strong>. This included the NPL, National Cup and all sanctioned leagues and tournaments. This means that all US Club Soccer-operated or sanctioned competitions beginning must be based on age group cut-offs of January 1 for each age group. Clubs may continue to organize their teams for competition with players of any age younger than the age group cut-off.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><div><div><p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/usclubsoccer.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Birth-year-registration-and-season-matrix-2017-08-01__1_.pdf\">Birth-year registration and season matrix (PDF)<\/a><\/strong><\/p><\/div><\/div><div><div><h3>\u00a0<\/h3><h3>SMALL-SIDED GAMES:<\/h3><div><p>US Club Soccer members have been required to follow the\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ussoccer.com\/stories\/2015\/08\/24\/18\/07\/150824-coaching-player-development-initiatives-rel\">U.S. Soccer mandates<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>related to small-sided games, which also includes changes to field and goal sizes, since\u00a0<strong>Aug. 1, 2017<\/strong>.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><div><div><h3>\u00a0<\/h3><h3>HOSTING INTERNATIONAL TEAMS:<\/h3><div><p style=\"font-family: lato, sans-serif;\">Approval from the\u00a0<u>U.S. Soccer Federation<\/u>\u00a0must be obtained for any game or tournament involving international (\u201cforeign\u201d) teams.
